Watched a guy in Reno mount a keypad at 5 feet 2 inches because his wife is short, and I've been doing it wrong for 9 years
He told me flat out that most installers mount at 48 inches out of habit instead of asking who actually arms the thing at night, so now I ask every client that one question before I drill.

Wait, wasn't the code in the post 48 inches, not 5 feet 2? That said, you're dead on about asking first, since half the keypads I see are too high for the person who actually uses them.
