Cleared 300 trees on a single property in Boulder and it felt wrong
The client wanted a 'clean slate' for a new build, so we took down every oak and pine on their five acres. I know it's a job, but hitting that number made me realize how much we're just erasing whole ecosystems for a view. Has anyone else had a big removal project that just didn't sit right with you after?

That Boulder property will have a beautiful new forest in twenty years.

Ever notice how we talk about land like it's a project we're waiting to finish? It's wild that we see a burned area and our first thought is the timeline for it to look pretty again. Makes me wonder if we're too focused on the end picture instead of just watching the slow, messy regrowth happen. That patience for a forest to come back feels like a lost skill.

My uncle's farm had a fire back in 2010. We spent years just staring at black sticks and ash. @dakotas54 is right, we kept asking when it would look normal. But the first green shoots in that mess were more amazing than any old picture. That ugly in between stage is where the real work happens. We lost the skill to just sit with land that isn't done yet.
