Debate: should you notch a branch that's rubbing on a roof or just trim the roof line?
Took me 4 hours to remove a big maple limb that was grinding against a corrugated metal roof in Austin last week because I kept second-guessing whether to notch it or just cut a channel in the roof. Notching saved the tree but cost me a ton of cleanup time, while trimming the roof would've been faster but feels wrong long-term. What do you guys lean toward when you're stuck between preserving the tree or making the quick fix?

Oh man, that's the kind of choice that keeps me up at night (literally, I've done the math on pruning vs. roofing at 2am). Notching the branch is like doing the right thing for the tree but then you're stuck picking up sawdust for hours, while trimming the roof is basically admitting defeat with a power tool. I'd say notch the branch and call it a character-building exercise, but only if you have a really good podcast queued up. Otherwise, just grab a zip tie and hope the wind does the heavy lifting for you, right?
