Heard a climber say 'your throw line is only as good as your bag placement'

Last Tuesday I was on a removal in Portland and this older climber I was working with said something that stuck with me. He goes 'your throw line is only as good as your bag placement' after I spent ten minutes untangling my line. He meant if you don't take the time to set your throw bag right the first time, you're just asking for knots and lost time. I always rushed that part, just chucked the bag up there hoping for the best. But after he said that, I started paying more attention to where the bag lands and how the line feeds. Yesterday on a big maple I got my line set on the first try for the first time in weeks. Has anyone else had a simple tip from a coworker totally change your setup routine?

You ever try dropping a heavy steel carabiner on the bag to weigh it down? I started doing that and it stops the line from twisting up so much on the way up.

My buddy tried that once and the bag swung back and hit him right in the jaw.
