Paid $600 for a hydraulic pole pruner and it's collecting dust in my shed
Everyone swears by them for reaching high limbs safely, but mine just gets stuck or leaks oil after every other job. I still grab my old manual pole saw nine times out of ten. Has anyone else found these more hassle than they're worth?

Ive had a totally different experience with mine. All the leaking and sticking usually means the seals are getting dried out or the hydraulic fluid is low, which is a pain but fixable. I had the same problem until I started storing it upright and bleeding the air out before each use, now it works smooth every time. I still keep a manual saw for quick small jobs but for anything over 15 feet the hydraulic saves my back big time. Maybe yours just needs a little maintenance or a different brand of fluid.
