Wait, that study said pruning in late winter actually makes the tree grow back stronger? I always thought you were supposed to do it in the fall. Wild how something so basic can be totally wrong.

My dad always trimmed his apple trees in November because that's when his dad did it. One year he pruned in March by accident and the tree produced the biggest apples we ever saw, go figure. Makes you wonder how much of what we "know" is just passed down without anyone actually checking.

Wait hold on, you're telling me a MISTAKE gave you better apples than doing it the "right" way? That is honestly blowing my mind right now. I've been following November pruning my whole life because that's what everyone says to do, never even questioned it. Makes you wonder how many other gardening "rules" are COMPLETELY made up. I'm seriously rethinking everything I thought I knew about tree care after reading this.
