The homeowner who demanded zero brush scratches cost me a full Saturday in Boulder

Last Saturday I took a removal job in Boulder for a 60 foot cottonwood. Homeowner walked me around, pointed at every tiny mark on the bark like it was a crime scene. Said 'if your rope even touches the trunk, I'm not paying.' I used a port-a-wrap and a pole saw, but the wind shifted and a branch brushed a low limb. He made me stop work for 45 minutes to inspect it. Then he wanted a written guarantee that no roots would get compacted. I ended up rigging everything with a 200 foot line and a come-along, took twice as long. Finished at 7pm, he paid but didn't tip. Has anyone else dealt with clients who treat a tree like a museum piece? How do you set boundaries before the job starts?
