Tried stump grinding with a rented machine, ended up in a pond
Last month I rented a 25hp stump grinder for a job in Auburn. The homeowner's tree was right by a decorative pond, and I figured I could angle it fine. Three passes in, the machine slid on wet grass and dumped itself in about 2 feet of water. Took me and my buddy 40 minutes with a tow strap to pull it out, and the rental place charged me $180 for cleanup. Has anyone else had a machine go sideways near water, or am I just the lucky one?
