Dismissed a field report about fluted points in Ohio farmland until I dug one up myself near Chillicothe River last fall
A retired archaeologist told me he found Clovis points on a farmer's field east of Chillicothe and I laughed it off as wishful thinking until I turned over a fluted biface in a test pit I dug there three weeks later; has anyone else had a hunch from an amateur turn out dead right?

Yeah I read that amateur finds actually make up a lot of major archaeological discoveries.

Totally agree with you @eva908. My cousin found a roman coin in his backyard just from digging up an old tree stump. The local museum said it was legit and they even put it on display. It really shows how regular folks can stumble onto history like that.
