My trowel snapped in half on a dig near Tucson last month

I was working on a site mapping a Hohokam pit house and put too much pressure on the handle. It just gave way and left me with two useless pieces. What's the most durable field trowel brand you've actually used?

That's rough, happened to me with a cheap one years back. Were you using a Marshalltown or something else when it broke?

A Marshalltown broke? That's actually hard to believe. I've used mine to pry out rocks that should have required a shovel. Maybe you got a fake? terryh20 is right about WHS being tough, but Marshalls are usually bulletproof.

Heard the archaeologists on that PBS show swear by WHS trowels for heavy clay soil.
