Spent 400 bucks on a ground penetrating radar rental for a backyard dig
Rented a GPR unit for a weekend to scan a suspected burial mound area on my property before digging, and it found zero anomalies worth excavating. Has anyone else burned money on high-tech gear that just confirmed there's nothing there?

Oh man, that stings. I once rented a metal detector for a weekend and spent all day finding nothing but rusted bottle caps and a old horseshoe. At least you got the satisfaction of knowing there's no buried treasure or dead bodies under your lawn, which is honestly kind of a win in a weird way. Sure, you're out 400 bucks, but you saved yourself the cost of digging and possibly getting arrested for disturbing a grave.

Pretty sure you wouldn't get arrested for digging up a body on your own property, unless you knew about it and didn't report it. But you're right about the rest of it. My neighbor paid for ground penetrating radar once because he was convinced there was an old septic tank in his backyard. Turned out to be a buried lawn ornament collection from the 70s. At least with the GPR you get a cool looking printout to hang on the fridge.
