Wait, your buddy just found a roman brooch in some random field? That's insane, like those things have to be buried for almost two thousand years. I always figured you'd need to be some kind of archaeologist with a team to stumble on something that old, not just a regular guy with a beepy stick.

Always thought they were just for hobbyists looking for coins and stuff, but hearing about the Sutton Hoo find made me realize how they can actually rewrite history. My buddy found a roman brooch in a field years ago, and the museum guy told him it changed the map of where people lived back then. So yeah, maybe they're not so bad if people report the good finds properly.
