The week I found a 150 year old beer bottle in my backyard

I was digging a new garden bed behind my house in Denver last Tuesday and my shovel hit glass. Turned out to be an old stoneware beer bottle from the 1870s with a local brewery name still stamped on it. The next day I found a rusted horseshoe and a button from a Civil War era coat. Has anyone else accidentally stumbled into artifacts while just doing yard work?

That brewery might still have records of that bottle design.

Did you hear about that guy in Ohio who found a whole 1800s coin cache under his rose bushes? I read about it on a history blog last month. That bottle is a real find though, especially with the brewery stamp still readable. My uncle in Nebraska dug up an old butter churn part once and the local museum actually asked to display it. You might want to check if there are any more items down there before the ground settles too much.
