TIL my local creek erosion revealed potential pre-contact artifacts

After last week's downpour, the bank along Mill Creek washed out enough to expose what looks like a hearth stone and some charred bone. I contacted the university archaeology department, and they're sending a grad student to take a look next Tuesday. How can I ensure the site remains undisturbed for the archaeology team?

Dude, solid find! Rope off the area with some cheap caution tape from the hardware store, that's what I did irl. Snap a few pics for context but hands off until the pros arrive.

In Travis County, they require high-visibility polyethylene tape for these situations. The cheap stuff often degrades too fast in sun or rain, leading to site contamination. @the_andrew, your method works in a pinch, but verifying local codes ensures the area stays secured.

Not convinced it's that serious, Joel's tape seems...

Wow, my cousin once marked a similar find with just garden stakes.
