Vent: Bought a 'genuine Roman coin' online that turned out to be a total fake

I dropped $75 on what the seller swore was a silver denarius from the 2nd century. Got it checked by a professor at the local university and it's just a modern cast replica. Anyone have a trustworthy source for actual small finds?

But why not just buy from a known dealer with a return policy? I've had way better luck that way.

That's actually a solid tip. My cousin got into that hobby a few years back and found a bunch of old farm stuff on his property. He ended up with a whole box of rusty horse bits and a couple of old coins. It's wild what's just under the grass in some places.
