Week before last at a site near Abilene, we pulled 14 points in 3 days and then found out what we were actually digging
We were in a west Texas creek bank doing a survey for a pipeline job, and the lithics were just pouring out of a single eroding layer, more than we saw all spring. On day 3 my crew lead noticed the flakes were all the same chert as a knapping pile about 80 meters upstream, which meant we were not in a camp, we were standing in somebody's trash dump from a workshop. Has anyone else had a hot streak turn out to be debitage scatter instead of an occupation site?
