Which side is right on the Clovis first debate?

Which side do you lean on after those Monte Verde finds?

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one a bit. The Monte Verde finds were pretty convincing to me, and I think the old Clovis first crowd was too attached to their theory. New evidence kept piling up and people still wanted to say Clovis people got there first with no one else around. It just doesn't match what we're finding in South America with those older dates. I lean toward the idea that people were here way before Clovis, maybe by a few thousand years or more.

@norag66 you're spot on with that. Monte Verde is a perfect example. I had a buddy who swore up and down Clovis was the only story, and I showed him the Monte Verde evidence and he just waved it off saying "those dates must be contaminated." Drove me nuts. People get so attached to an idea that even when the proof is staring them in the face they dig in harder. It's like watching someone argue the earth is flat with a globe in the room.
