Why does nobody warn you that fake fossils are eating this hobby alive
I dropped $95 at a gem and mineral show in Tucson on what the seller swore was a real trilobite from Morocco. Took it to a paleontologist at the local museum and he pointed out the shell was carved into plaster, the whole thing was fake. That money is just gone and the vendor's booth was packed up by Sunday. How do you even spot fakes like this before you hand over cash?
