Compared the Biltmore networking breakfast to the Tempe Chamber mixer and one was way better

I went to both last month and the Biltmore one felt like a sales pitch the whole time while the Tempe group actually had people asking about my business. The difference was the Tempe group had a real agenda for introductions instead of just letting people hand out cards. Has anyone else found that the structure of the event makes that big of a difference?

Wait, speed dating for business cards @hugo825? That sounds absolutely awful and I'm kind of shocked anyone thought that would work better than actual structured introductions like the Tempe one had.

Honestly, is it really networking if you're just swapping business cards faster than a first date gone bad? Sounds like @hugo825 dodged a bullet that was aimed for his wallet.

Went to a chamber thing in Chandler last year that was basically just speed dating for business cards and got nothing out of it. The ones with actual guided introductions where someone calls on you to share your elevator pitch are way more useful.
