Getting a business license in Scottsdale took me 3 weeks instead of the 2 days I planned for

I started my own flooring business and the city website said the process was straightforward, but they kept asking for extra paperwork I didn't have ready. It ended up taking three full weeks of back-and-forth emails and a couple of in-person trips to sort it all out. For those who've set up a business here, what was the biggest delay you ran into with local permits?

Same thing happened with my food truck. The health department inspection schedule was the worst part. They had a two week backlog just to look at my setup. Had to park the truck and wait, couldn't earn a dime.

That's crazy you both had to deal with that. @hill.andrew mentioned 19 days, which is just brutal. Did either of you try to push for a faster appointment or was there just no way around the wait? It seems like they could at least let you operate on a temporary permit while you're in line.

My buddy's food cart sat idle for 19 days waiting on a grease trap inspection. That's rent and wages gone before you even open. The whole system punishes small operators who can't afford the downtime.
