Got a free lunch out of a business card mix-up in Scottsdale

Last month I went to a mixer at a coffee shop off Camelback and accidentally grabbed the wrong stack of business cards from the table. I didn't notice until I got home and found this guy's card for a landscaping company tucked in with mine. Turns out his number was one digit off from mine, so I texted him about it as a joke. He was actually at the same event and thought it was hilarious, so he invited me to lunch at this little taco place in Old Town. We ended up talking shop for an hour and he gave me three solid leads for clients. I still don't know how my card ended up in his pile, has anyone else ever had a mix-up that turned into a real connection?

Wow, that's such a wild story! I love how a simple mistake turned into something actually useful, and honestly that says a lot about both of you being open to the joke instead of just brushing it off. Most people would've just tossed the card or sent a dry text, but you both leaned into it, and that's how real connections happen in this world. It makes me wonder how many small mixups like that we let slip by without giving them a chance, you know? I had something similar happen at a conference where my badge got swapped with a stranger's, and we ended up chatting for twenty minutes about shared clients. Now we grab coffee every couple of months, so I get exactly how you feel. What did the taco place end up being called, I'm always looking for good spots in Old Town?
