Heard someone say networking is just 'sales with coffee' and it got me thinking
I was at a Scottsdale mixer last week and overheard a guy say that to his buddy, and at first I kind of laughed but then I realized he might be onto something. I've been going to these events for about 6 months now, and the people who actually follow up and ask specific questions about your business are the ones who end up sending work your way. Does anyone else find that the most valuable connections come from conversations where you weren't even trying to sell?

oh man, people overthink this stuff way too much. I've seen the same thing where the folks trying hardest to sell are the ones I forget five minutes later. Honestly half of these mixers are just a way to eat free finger food and complain about traffic.

And @phoenix29 is absolutely right, I've been that guy sweating through my shirt trying to remember a pitch while someone's asking me if I've tried the spinach dip.
