I thought I had to go to every Phoenix chamber event to get good contacts

For six months, I went to every mixer and breakfast I could find, spending about $200 a month on fees. Last month, I skipped three big events and instead met two people for coffee in Tempe. Those two talks led to more real work than all the big rooms full of people. Has anyone else found that smaller, planned meetings work better than the big networking events around here?

Exactly. Quality over quantity, always.

My three-page essay on this topic (sorry, @terry_thomas) proves your point, I guess.

Started reading three pages and thought this is exactly what happens when someone overthinks a simple point just to look smart. Being concise is harder than writing a wall of text but way more valuable in the end. Most people mistake length for depth when really it's just noise.
