I thought the Phoenix Chamber mixers were just expensive happy hours, but I gave one a shot last month.
Honestly I figured it'd be a bunch of people swapping cards and not actually talking. But I met a guy who runs a print shop in Mesa and he ended up referring me to a client two days later. The $20 entry fee got me a solid lead and a breakfast taco. Not bad. Has anyone else had a hit or miss experience with those?

Got cold tacos too at one near Gilbert. Sat through a whole hour of someone pitching "business astrology" before I could even grab a coffee. But weirdly the next one I hit in Tempe was a total turnaround. This older lady who restores vintage furniture gave me a lead that turned into three months of steady work. So yeah it's a gamble. Some tables are duds some you luck out. The food is always hit or miss though I swear they order from the cheapest caterer in town. Still $20 is cheaper than a LinkedIn premium month and at least you get a crappy taco out of it.

Figured the temps are at least warmer than those tacos most of the time.

The Mesa guy sounds like a fluke honestly. My buddy went to one back in February and said the whole thing was just a bunch of real estate agents fighting over who had the biggest network. I tried one out near Chandler last spring and the tacos were cold, and the only lead I got was some guy trying to sell me on a pyramid scheme for custom dog collars. But I did hear from a woman at the gym who got a legit vendor connection out of it, so maybe it's a roll of the dice. The $20 is cheap enough that I'd probably try another one if the food sounded better.
