Just realized I was wasting my whole Thursday at those big chamber mixer events
Used to hit up the Phoenix Chamber mixers every month from 5-7, handing out cards to people who clearly didn't care. Then in March I tried a small Scottsdale coffee shop meetup with 12 people and got three actual client leads in one hour. Has anyone else ditched the big rooms for smaller groups?

That "quality over quantity" line hits home. I had a friend who owned a small bookkeeping business and she spent a whole year going to those big chamber breakfasts, probably spent close to a thousand dollars on table fees and parking. She would come home with a stack of business cards and a headache from all the loud talking. Then she tried a tiny writers group that met in a library basement, maybe eight people total. Within two months she had a contract with a local author who needed help with his taxes and another lead from someone's cousin who ran a nonprofit. She told me it was the best decision she ever made, just walking away from those big rooms entirely.

Quality over quantity every time, the big rooms are just ego stroking.

Wait, does that mean I've been wasting my time collecting free pens and awkwardly pretending to network while holding a too-hot cup of coffee? Because @julia_carter70's friend sounds way smarter than me. I spent three months at a big biz event and only got one lead who turned out to be selling essential oils.
