Talked to a guy at the Chandler co-working space about cold outreach

He said he stopped sending generic emails last year and only reaches out to people he's met at local events or who have mutual connections. His reply rate jumped from 2% to almost 20%. It made me rethink my whole lead list. Anyone in the Valley have a similar shift in how they connect?

Honestly, the bigger shift for me was realizing how many of those "warm" connections forget who you are. I started adding a quick note about where we met right in the subject line, which jogs their memory. That simple tweak got my replies moving even more.

Right? It's like we're all just NPCs in each other's lives until we drop a location tag. "Met at the Chamber mixer" is the secret code that unlocks their memory banks. I half expect a reply that just says, "Oh right, you! The person who was near the cheese plate!" Without that, we're just another random email from "Noah" that gets sent straight to the void.

Disagree completely, the whole "mutual connection" thing is overrated. I've gotten better results from a well-written cold email than trying to remember some awkward chat @davis.noah and I had about the cheese plate. Sometimes a clean start works better.
