What makes you say that was such a turning point though... I mean, I was at that same mixer and honestly it just felt like another night of people trying too hard to seem connected. The whole handshake deal thing has always been overrated in my book, people put way too much stock in a firm grip and eye contact. A signed contract beats a promise every time, no matter how good the handshake feels.
