TIL a Wednesday morning coffee meetup beats any formal networking event

I used to think those structured chamber of commerce mixers were the only way to make real business connections in Phoenix. Then I tried the Desert Ridge Coffee Club meetup at 7am on a Wednesday out of pure desperation. Ended up chatting with a guy from a Chandler roofing company who referred me a $3k job the next week. Has anyone else found more luck with casual morning groups than the big evening events?

The Desert Ridge Coffee Club runs at 7am actually, I've been going for about two years now. It starts at 7 but most people don't trickle in until 7:15 or so. I think you might be mixing it up with the Scottsdale morning meetup which starts at 6:30. The big difference I've noticed is the vibe is way more relaxed than those evening mixers where everyone's just handing out business cards and scanning the room. Morning coffee groups let you actually talk to people without the noise and pressure. Plus you're not fighting for parking in downtown Phoenix which is a huge win.

Has anyone checked if the coffee is actually any good there or is it just standard drip stuff? Honestly, that would make or break the whole morning vibe for me because bad coffee just kills any chance of a decent conversation. I'd rather deal with downtown parking and a proper latte than sit through two hours of watery brew pretending to network.

Has anyone asked if they offer a cortado or flat white instead of just drip? Because a place that can pull a proper shot is way more likely to have decent beans and a real barista.
