Am I the only one who used a level wrong for a decade?
I always trusted the bubble was centered, but on a job in Austin last month I found a wall that looked straight yet was off by a full inch. Turns out I was holding the level against a bowed stud, not the actual plane. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple tool humbles you after years?

Wait, you mean that bubble thing is supposed to measure the wall, not the stud?
I did the same thing with a 4-foot level on a bookshelf project. Spent two hours shimming everything, then realized the shelf itself was warped, not the wall.
At least your wall was off by a full inch. Mine was off by half that but took me three tries to figure out why the door kept sticking.
Levels should come with a warning label that says "this tool lies more than your ex.
