I was setting plug gaps on my old Ford with a dime for 6 months because that's what my dad did on his truck back in the day, and it ran rough the whole time. A guy at the parts counter in Reno finally asked what I was using and just shook his head when I told him, turns out a $4 feeler gauge fixed a misfire I'd been chasing for weeks. Anybody else got a hand-me-down trick that turned out to be junk?
