Can we talk about how long it takes to boil eggs at 7,000 feet?

Moved to Denver last month and tried my usual 8 minute boil for hard eggs - came out runny as hell. Finally figured out you need to add 2 minutes for every 1,000 feet, has anyone else had to re-learn basic cooking after moving?

Did you try poking a tiny hole in the shell first?

Poking a hole first is a game changer honestly. I had a bunch of eggs that kept cracking in the pot before I tried that and it worked like a charm every time since. Just make sure you do it gently with something sharp like a pin or a thumbtack.

Pin pricks actually let air escape and keep shells intact. Have you tried steaming them instead?
