Found out my tap water has 14 different contaminants from a local report
I was just looking up our city water quality after that bad taste last week. Turns out the annual report from our utility shows trace amounts of lead and a bunch of other stuff I can't even pronounce. I had no idea my drinking water had that much junk in it. Has anyone else looked into their local water report and been shocked at what's in there?

Oh man, I was totally one of those people who thought tap water was fine... like, it's just water, right? But then I finally looked at our city report after my kid asked about it and saw some things that made me stop and think. It's wild how much stuff can sneak in there that you don't really notice day to day. I guess I always figured the treatment plants caught everything, but now I'm not so sure.

I got a water test kit from the hardware store a few years back after my faucet started leaving weird orange stains on everything. The results showed our lead level was just barely under the EPA limit, but like the next decimal point over would have been a problem. I remember staring at that little color chart thinking, "well that's not great." It's not the kind of thing that keeps you up at night, but it definitely makes you pay more attention. My neighbor has a fancy filter now and I'm honestly thinking about getting one too, just for peace of mind.
