Got locked in a Home Depot bathroom for 45 minutes last Tuesday

I was grabbing some deck screws and nature called, so I hit the restroom near lumber. The door handle just straight up broke off in my hand after I shut the stall. Took 3 guys from plumbing 45 minutes to get me out with a screwdriver and a coat hanger. The worst part was my phone had 5% battery and I had to text my foreman "trapped in stall" like a weirdo. A kid in the next stall kept asking his dad why the man was knocking on the door. Now I always check the handle before I go in any public bathroom. Has anyone else gotten trapped somewhere dumb like that?

I've noticed public spaces are getting worse about basic maintenance across the board, not just bathrooms. It's like companies realized they can save money by letting stuff break and nobody will do anything about it until someone complains. That kid asking his dad questions just proves how weird "normal" has gotten.

But what gets me is the stuff that doesn't have a clear person to complain to. Like those automatic hand dryers in public restrooms that barely work. Nobody owns that dryer, nobody's responsible for fixing it so it actually dries your hands in under two minutes. It's just there, half broken, and everyone accepts it because complaining feels pointless. That's the part that gets to me, the stuff that's nobody's job to maintain.
