My best foraging day ever - found 8 pounds of chanterelles in one patch near Portland

I was just hiking a trail I've walked maybe 20 times before and decided to go off path a bit. Found a whole hillside of chanterelles tucked under some ferns. Filled my whole bag and had to use my shirt as a second bag. Never had a single day like that before or since. Has anyone else stumbled onto a crazy big find like that?

3 years ago I found a patch of morels behind a gas station near Mount Hood that made me look like a crazy person carrying them out. I had to use my jacket like a hammock because my bag was already stuffed. Eight pounds of chanterelles is a whole different league though. I would have been walking out of those woods looking like a mushroom smuggling mule.

Wait, you found morels behind a gas station? That's insane. People hunt those things for years without finding a spot. Jacket hammock is a solid move though. I'd be terrified someone would see me and follow me back.
