My cheap phone mount gave up on I-95 last Tuesday, glad it happened at 40 mph
I was heading up to Baltimore for a job interview, using my suction cup mount like always. About 20 miles outside of DC the cup just let go, phone smacked the dash and slid under the seat. I pulled off at the next exit, dug it out, and grabbed a $12 vent mount from a gas station. It held the whole rest of the trip. Not gonna lie, felt like dodging a bullet since the phone could have bounced into the pedals. Has anyone else had a random cheap accessory fail at the worst spot but actually work out okay?

God, that suction cup failing on I-95 is like the exact nightmare scenario. Glad it was at 40 and not at like 75 in the middle lane. I had a cheap magnetic one pop off on a pothole once and my phone went straight into the cup holder, which was lucky, but I still have a small crack in the corner from where it hit the dash first. The gas station vent mount saving the day is honestly the plot twist nobody expects.
