Saw a guy at the Grand Canyon last Tuesday hand out $20 bills to anyone who picked up trash
I was at Mather Point last Tuesday around 8am when this older guy in a yellow vest started handing out $20 bills to people who picked up litter. He did it for about an hour and dropped maybe $300 of his own cash. Half the crowd thought it was the coolest thing ever and started cleaning like crazy. The other half said he was basically paying people to do what we should already do for free. So which is it, does paying folks to do the right thing help or does it just mean nobody picks up trash unless there's cash in it?
