Serious question, I cut my grocery bill from $190 a week to $115 by shopping at 8pm on Tuesdays
My grocery bill kept climbing every month and I could not figure out why, so I started keeping every receipt in a folder. Last week I noticed something weird, the same list of stuff cost me $190 on a Sunday afternoon but $115 on a Tuesday around 8pm at the same store in Boise. Turns out the meat and bakery stuff gets marked down a few hours before closing, and I just load up and freeze what I will not use in 2 days. I also started checking the top and bottom shelves instead of eye level, since the cheap store brand stuff lives down there. I am not doing coupons or anything fancy, just timing and shelf placement. Does anybody else have a store timing trick like this, or is it just my spot?
