Swore off public polls for big decisions, but a simple forum query saved my vacation.
I skipped advice for personal plans. Put a travel query up and got great replies. Now I'm all in on asking, you too?

Trusting online posts for big trips can go wrong. People just share what worked for them, not what will work for you. I skip the advice and plan it myself.

Seeing this debate reminds me of how much we rely on stranger opinions for EVERYTHING now, not just trips. From picking a phone to choosing a diner, folks online dish out advice based on their OWN luck, good or bad. For vacations, that means you might get a hidden GEM tip or end up in a tourist trap because someone had a sunny day there. The trick is sifting through the noise and remembering that your experience will be your OWN, no matter what the forum says. I've learned to take online suggestions as a starting point, not the final map.

Last time I followed a five star diner tip, the place had roaches. At least it gave me a good story.
