That $50 race entry fee I threw away on a virtual 5K
Signed up for a virtual 5K back in April for $50 thinking it would keep me motivated. They mailed me a bib and a medal but the tracking app glitched out halfway through and I never got an official time. Anyone else get burned by these online race deals?

@elizabethg18 hit the nail on the head with that Amazon comparison, lol. I read somewhere that like 40% of virtual race apps have major bugs or don't track properly, so we're definitely not alone. My buddy signed up for one that charged $60 and the "finisher" shirt was a cheap iron-on that peeled after one wash. At least your medal is solid, that's more than some people get. @elizabethg18 is right, these things are a gamble. I'm just grateful my glitchy app didn't count my bathroom break as a split time forever.

Paid $50 for a bib and a medal I could have bought off Amazon for ten bucks. Tracking app glitching sounds about right for a virtual race that was probably run by one guy in his basement. At least you got a cool piece of metal to dust on your shelf.
