That one editor's note about my 900-word replies changed my whole posting style
I used to write these giant, detailed answers in Ask Anything threads, like 900 words with bullet points and links. A regular in the community finally said, 'You're not writing a essay, you're answering a question.' At first I was annoyed, but they were right. I trimmed my next reply down to maybe 200 words, just the direct answer and one quick example. More people actually read it and replied. Since then I try to keep most of my responses under 300 words unless the question really asks for deep detail. Has anyone else gotten feedback that forced them to shorten their posts, and did it help or hurt your conversations?
