Tried swapping my desk chair for a yoga ball for a month and my back feels worse than ever
I work from home in Austin and saw all those hype posts about core engagement, so I ditched my $200 office chair for a $15 yoga ball on January 1st. By week 2 I had hip pain I never had before and now I am back in my old chair with a heating pad. Did anyone else get burned by this trend or did I just do it wrong?

Wait has your hip started feeling better by now? @the_patricia is totally right, my friend Jen tried the same thing last spring and ended up with this sharp pain in her lower back after like three weeks. She thought she was doing everything right, bouncing a little to keep blood moving, but her PT said the ball forces your hips to tilt forward pretty hard if you don't have perfect posture. She went back to a regular chair with a lumbar pillow and it took her another month before the ache finally went away. So yeah I think it's just not made for sitting on for hours, more like a tool to use for a few minutes here and there.
