Warning: I called that 'no fees' ATM at the gas station on Route 9 a scam for 2 months until my bank statement proved me wrong

So there's this ATM inside the Sunoco on Route 9 near my place in Poughkeepsie. Big yellow sign. Says no fees, ever. I laughed at it for 2 months straight. Told my buddy Dave it had to be skimming cards or something. Used it anyway one night because I was out of cash and the store wouldn't take my card for a $3 bottle of water. Took out $40. Waited for the fees to hit. Checked my statement 3 days later. Nothing. Checked again a week after that. Still nothing. Called my bank and the lady on the phone said yeah, some independent ATMs really do run fee free now because the machine owner gets a cut from the store traffic. I felt like a jerk. Dave still doesn't believe me. Has anyone else run into a no fee ATM that actually held up over months, or did I just get lucky once?
