Why does nobody talk about backup generators failing in a power outage?
Last month the power went out during a storm in Columbus and my generator, which I'd tested in September, wouldn't start. Turns out the carburetor had gummed up from old fuel sitting for 3 months. I ended up borrowing a neighbor's extension cord setup at 2am and now I check the fuel every 30 days. Does anyone else treat their generator like a lawn mower and forget it needs actual maintenance?
Three months is nothing for fuel to sit, especially if it had any ethanol in it... did you drain the carb bowl before you stored it or just shut it off and call it done?
