Found this wild stat that 80% of home buyers skip the inspection and regret it within a year

I read it on a real estate forum last week and I'm wondering if that's really true or just people sharing horror stories, has anyone here actually bought a house without an inspection and it turned out fine?

Ha! I skipped an inspection once and my basement is basically a swimming pool now.

My buddy Dave skipped a foundation inspection on his house in Ohio back in 2018. Two years later his living room floor started sagging and he found out the whole thing was sitting on old tree stumps, not concrete. Cost him nearly 30 grand to fix. It's crazy how skipping one small step can blow up into a huge mess. Makes me think people do that with all kinds of stuff, not just house stuff. Like skipping an oil change or putting off a dentist visit, it always comes back worse.

Used to think inspections were just a way for contractors to squeeze more money out of you. But stories like yours and your buddy Dave's make me realize I was completely wrong. Skipping that one thing can turn into a nightmare real fast. Its like the universe always finds a way to punish you for cutting corners. Definitely gonna be more careful about stuff like that from now on.
