Hit 500 days on my Duolingo streak and I'm not even sure I can order a coffee in Spanish.
The app just gave me a little trophy and I feel like a fraud. Has anyone else kept a streak going way past the point of actual learning?

Honestly, is it that deep? It's a free app that gamifies a basic task. The trophy just means you opened it a lot. It's like getting a high score on a mobile game, not a real language certificate. If you feel like a fraud, maybe just stop checking the streak and try a different way to learn. But beating yourself up over a cartoon owl's reward seems like extra stress for no reason.

Nah, you're not a fraud at all. The streak is just a measure of showing up, not real skill. I did the same thing with French for over a year. The app makes you feel good for opening it, but you need to actually talk to people or watch shows to learn. That trophy just means you're really good at doing your daily lesson, which is still a good habit.

Ugh, this is everywhere now. We collect streaks and badges for just opening an app, not for doing anything real. It's like getting a trophy for walking into the gym but never lifting a weight. Makes you feel busy without the actual work. That empty feeling you get is the whole point.
