I finally tried that weird trick for getting candle wax out of a carpet
My kid knocked over a big jar candle last week and left a huge wax stain on our living room rug. I saw online that you could use a paper bag and an iron to lift it out, which sounded like total nonsense to me. Figured it would just melt the wax deeper into the fibers. But I was desperate, so I grabbed a brown grocery bag and my old iron on a low setting. I put the paper over the wax, ironed it gently for about 15 seconds, and the bag soaked up a shocking amount of wax. Did it three more times and the spot was completely gone. The rug looks brand new. Has anyone else had a home remedy work that you were sure would fail?

That trick saved my couch from a red wine candle disaster. Just make sure your iron is on the lowest heat setting to be safe. It feels like magic when it actually works.

Guess that iron works better on wax than my last wrinkled shirt.

Oh man, my buddy did that once! He tried to iron a stain on his jacket and just melted the fabric. It was a total mess.
