Is a cold shower actually good for you or just trendy bro science?

My buddy swears by 2 minute cold plunges every morning for focus, but I read a study saying it can spike cortisol long term. Has anyone here actually noticed real benefits or is it just another internet fad?

I mean to each their own but 'felt jittery and weird for hours' sounds like maybe it's just not that serious for most people. Idk if we need to optimize every tiny part of our morning routine.

Have you tried easing into it instead of going full ice bath? I started with 30 seconds of cold at the end of my regular shower, just cranked it down for a bit after washing. Honestly, it woke me up way better than coffee and my skin looked less puffy. But I noticed if I did it too long or too cold I felt jittery and weird for hours. So now I do like 45 seconds max and it helps me get going without killing my mood later.
