My $400 mistake with that meal kit service
Signed up for GourmetCycle in March because their ads looked great. After two months and 8 boxes I realized I spent $400 on food I could have bought for $150 at the grocery store. Anyone else get hooked by those fancy marketing promises?

Half of it go bad in the fridge" - that's the part that gets me. I did the same thing with a different company and threw away almost two full boxes because I just didn't cook the meals fast enough. How do you even keep up with all that fresh food when you're working full time?

Started doing the same thing with a different meal kit and felt stupid when I added up the totals. What actually helped me was setting a strict rule to only order every other week and bulk prep the veggies the night the box arrived. @derekward yeah it's tough to keep up but I found if I chop everything right away and freeze the extras, nothing goes bad before I get to it. Still feels like a rip off when you see how cheap the same ingredients are at the store.

Four hundred bucks though... that's a couple nights out or a nice dinner. Seems like a lot of fuss over some overpriced groceries. Did you actually eat all the food or did half of it go bad in the fridge like mine always does. Those meal kit companies are basically charging you for the convenience of not having to walk down the produce aisle. If you were ordering takeout every night it'd be a different story but you gotta draw the line somewhere.
