My fridge filter hack saved me $40 last month

I kept buying those expensive name brand fridge filters for my Samsung fridge every 6 months. Last month I tried a generic one off eBay for $12 instead of $52. It fit perfectly and my water tastes exactly the same. Has anyone else found decent off brand filters that actually work?

Does your fridge warranty still hold if you use off-brand filters?

Bought a $15 generic water filter for my fridge off Amazon and it worked fine for like 3 months then started making this weird clicking noise every time the dispenser ran. Water tasted fine but the noise drove me nuts. Ended up just buying the OEM one again cause I couldnt handle the sound. My buddy swears by the off brand ones from a local hardware store though says they last longer than the name brand. Guess its hit or miss depending on the fridge model.
