My old way of asking for help at work was a total disaster

For years, I'd just sit there stuck on a problem, like figuring out a weird slump test result, and not say a word until I was way behind. I thought asking made me look dumb. Then about six months ago, my boss saw me staring at a pump truck setup for like twenty minutes and said, 'Just ask, man, we've all been there.' Now, I just blurt out my question right away, even if it feels silly. It saves so much time and stress. How do you get over that feeling of being judged when you need to ask for help?

Just remember everyone started somewhere. Your boss is right, we've all been there.

Yeah, and it's easy to forget that when you're the new person.
